WRESTLER SPOTLIGHT: CALLIE RENTON
Full name..
My full legal name is Calisto Zoe Renton.
You’re known as the Brat Princess, tell us a bit about that..
When I started travelling with my Mom when she was still wrestling, some of the people she worked with called me the Ice Princess, because she was known as the Ice Queen back then. But she always joked that I was a Brat Princess, since I liked to get into a bit of mischief. So the name kind of stuck, and I carried it with me when I started wrestling.
What got you into professional wrestling..
Watching it as a kid, I loved the pageantry, the showmanship of it all. How a story could be told without any words. The first time I ever saw a wrestling match, I was hooked. I knew there was nothing else in the world I wanted to do.
What was your first professional wrestling match..
The very first professional match I ever had was in Pro Wrestling Excellence, and it was actually two years ago this month. It was at their Annihilation event in Montreal, and I was part of this huge open invitational elimination match. There was even a cat involved, swear to God. Let’s just say I needed some Reactine after that match.
What made you sign for Five Lakes Wrestling..
I’ve been looking for opportunities ever since I started my new training with Lachlan Kane at the Wolfslair Gym in Orlando, and he’s been a huge help in finding different places for me to go. When he pointed me in the direction of Five Lakes, I thought it would be a great way to broaden my horizons, and also be a bit closer to my Mom since she’s still in New York.
You’re a second generation wrestler although you didn’t meet your Mother until later in life. How did you find one another and what influence has she had on your career?
The crazy part of the whole story was that I was a huge fan of hers before I even knew she was my Mom. My Dad was a really big wrestling fan so he got me into it, and we would go to shows all the time in New York. One time when I was around 8 years old, we went to a show that my Mom was a part of, and my Dad told me the whole story of how he met my Mom when they were both independent wrestlers. She got pregnant with me, but after I was born she had to leave to protect us from some darkness in her past. After the show, we got to meet her, and the rest is history. My Mom has been the biggest influence on my career, because she’s always told me to just be true to myself and to never give up, no matter how impossible things may seem.
Who else has had a big impact on your career, and in what way?
As I mentioned before, I’ve recently been working with Lachlan Kane. He’s been pushing me out of my comfort zone and really inspiring me to take more risks. He’s pushed my confidence to a new level, and I’ll always be grateful for his guidance. I’m also a huge fan of Kasey Vex, and I’ve loved watching her over in Japan with Miracle Galaxy Pro and in England with Valkyrie Pro Wrestling. She’s someone that definitely marches to her own beat. Also currently I’m being mentored by Shane Donovan in another company I’m part of, and he’s been showing me that sometimes you have to be a little bit ruthless.
What are your goals in 5LW/professional wrestling..
Well, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to finally get my hands on a title. I’ve had quite a few opportunities, but I’ve never been able to seal the deal, so to speak. Hopefully in the new year things are gonna start looking up for me. Although we still have a few shows left in this year too…
But I also want to keep challenging myself. New opponents, new types of matches…bring it all on!
Who would you most like to face..
Tiffany Lynn Page right now is at the top of my list. Getting really tired of her strutting around with her nose in the air acting like she’s so much better. It’d be really satisfying to knock her down a few pegs. Khloe Bell was a really fun opponent, I wouldn’t mind running it back with her again. And anyone I haven’t yet faced, I always love new challenges.
Who would you least like to face..
Anyone that’s significantly larger than me!
And finally, do you have a message for the Five Lakes fans?
Thanks for all your love and support! Hope to see you all soon!
