LIVE! From Toronto: Night Two
Thursday 22nd December
IN THE RING
Frank James came out to greet the crowd again, much like he did the previous night. He thanked the fans in attendance for Night Two, and promised a great night of wrestling. He talked about his decision to add Khloe Bell to the Main Event tonight, but the crowd were ultimately here for it, applauding his decision. Interestingly though, he was out here to call out the reigning champion, Kore Violet, who was the winner of the first award tonight.. Best Entrance Music. 'Therefore I am' hit the speakers as Kore sauntered out to the ring, ignoring the usual vitriol on either side of her. She snatched the mic off her employer, visibly annoyed at his recent decision before addressing the crowd. She said this award wasn’t about music at all. It’s about her and what it means when HER music hits the arena. She could come out to the fucking YMCA for all it matters, at the end of the day it's Kore Violet's entrance music and that’s why she won this award. Tonight she had an agenda. She was going to make sure it was the first thing everyone heard, and the last. And just because Khloe Bell has wormed her way into this match it won’t change a thing. Bugs have a way of crawling into places they're not welcome and she was happy to squash this one right underneath her boot. Was she annoyed? Yes. She wanted Nessa Reckless one on one, she still does. Nessa was the only person she probably hadn’t beaten yet. Perhaps. She didn’t know, she wasn’t keeping score as she hadn't won so many matches here it was hard to keep track. But it wouldn't change the outcome. Ultimately, two people instead of one would join Bite Club tonight, and the same person would be leaving the building STILL your Five Lakes Wrestling Undisputed Champion.

TELEVISION TITLE MATCH
Roni Tyler v Khloe Bell (c)
Just 24 hours after her successful defence against Molly Hatchet, and merely hours away from a shot at the Undisputed Title, Khloe Bell found herself face to face with the imposing Roni Tyler. Tyler has disposed of several wrestlers recently and rightfully earned herself her opportunity, as these two contrasting personalities opened the show. Bell, conscious she needed to keep something in the tank for later in the night, was happy to slow this one down and take it to another time limit draw if necessary. Tyler though was conscious of the ticking clock, after Hatchet's close encouncter the previous day. She took the match to the champion, and showed why she had steamrollered her recent opposition, but Bell hung in and capitalised when the opportunity arose, silencing everyone with a Cradle Piledriver she calls Hell's Bells. She picked up her belt and walked to the back, cold and emotionless. One down, one to go.
Winner: Khloe Bell (Still Television Champion)
IN THE RING
Cue Bad Wolves “Legends never die” over the house PA. Through the vibrant 5LW curtains steps Molly Hatchet fresh from her near win on Night One. She bears some marks, a light bruise by her left eye sticking out in particular. She sports her black and green Hatchet Clan vest, a black “Death Metal Ginger” T-shirt with a wicked red haired skull on the front, a black leather bullet belt with a crossed hatchets belt buckle, tight black jeans, spiked wrist bracers, a chain choker around her neck, and strapped boots. The huge pop she gets from the crowd splits her freckled lips with a big grin and she throws a tattooed fist in the air while shouting, “FUCK YEEEEAAAHHH!!!”
She then runs down the aisle with her arms held out to connect with several outstretched hands along the way. It’s with that momentum, she leaps over the apron and slides forward to the middle of the ring. Palms pressed to the mat, she flexes her lower body to stomp her feet on the mat and rise to a full stand with a little skip in her step forward. It’s with a wave of her hand that a ring attendant tosses her a microphone. It lands in her palm but bounces out of it! A bit of quick thinking allows her to save the catch with her other hand. It’s with a chuckle that she brings the mic to her lips, the music dying.
Molly: *chuckling* I almost whiffed that! Hope Maffew on Botchamania caught it!!!
Molly strolls around the ring, all grins, sharing in the moment of levity.
Molly: Aye, I was hopin’ ta’ be in active competition tonight here in front of all of ye’ tho I do have me gear bag in tha’ back in case that changes. Ya’ ne’er know in this business afterall.
The smile slowly fades.
Molly: Still tho, hell of a night. If I dinnae’ have a time limit, I’d’ve been yer new TV Champion and Big Roni would have been preparin’ ta’ face me fer it in this very ring. Instead I’ll be on tha’ side, enjoyin’ tha’ show, but I wouldnae’ be out here if I dinnae’ have somethin’ ta’ say beyond that, would I?
Molly heads for a corner and leans into it, her arms resting on the turnbuckle.
Molly: No, last night whet the appetite as I was so very close to netting me first real championship in o’er a year, five minute consolation prizes notwithstanding.
She smirks a bit saying that, the bite aimed at a specific past wrestling company and it’s promoter. Seeing the camera trained on her from ringside, she looks at it with a wink and makes a little kissy face before continuing.
Molly: While I may not be ending 2023 as a champion, I want to be a long tenured belt holder in 2024, preferably before I turn thirty next March, but we’ll see how it goes. I’ll be shaking down each and e’ery champion I can because there’s gold lust in these eyes and it’s about time I slapped me name on somethin’ other than merchandise!
Another little chuckle as she pushes out of that corner and looks up the aisle to the stage where behind it many other 5LW wrestlers reside.
Molly: For too long, I’ve been party to other people’s years and times, helpin’ them secure their legacies but now? Now it’s high time I did so fer meself. My time is here, now, and for as long as I can make it. Each and e’ery champion in tha’ back, friend or foe, get ready because this ginger is gettin’ hers and I donnae’ care who it is, whether I get another round with Koriand’r Violet and put her undisputed reign into dispute, it’s a bid ta’ represent North America o’er Tiffany Page, ta give me best friend Griffin Hawkins another amazin’ battle over gold and take it fer more than five minutes, another round with Khloe Bell, or hell, maybe I become tha’ first e’er holder of tha’ Brass Knuckle Championship!
She shrugs her shoulders, hand held out to her side and head cocked slightly to one side before turning back to the fans.
Molly: I’m ridin’ higher than I have in a long time, feelin’ grand and confident that I can achieve anythin’ I put me mind to and-
A sudden burst of music interrupts her and out come the Rogues Gallery, ahead of schedule for their match. Levi has a mic in hand and tells Molly to get out of the ring, it was time for their match and nobody wanted to listen to her any more. Molly, naturally, did not budge, as an argument ensued over them interrupting her. But the words exchanged didn't last long as a two on one beat down immediately commenced. Hatchet was quick to throw arms back in their direction, and impressively got a few in, fending them both off for a few moments, but there was only so much she could withstand as they soon overpowered her and began beating her around the ring. The Salavea Twins came rushing out to the ring soon after, partly to her aid, but mainly to get stuck into their opponents, as this match got off to an impromptu start. Molly, meanwhile, gathered herself on the outside and swore revenge on the Rogues, before exiting to the back.
TAG TEAM MATCH
The Rogues Gallery v Salavea Twins
Rogues Gallery have gotten off to an impressive start in their first few weeks here, but they face their toughest test to date against former champions in Rodney and Jacob. The Salavea Twins were hoping for an opportunity to reclaim their titles but defeat last time out meant they'll have to wait a little longer for that rematch. The Disciples of CATCHDEATH were ruthless in the opening stages, their calculated brutality really coming to the fore as they inflicted as much pain as humanly possible on the brothers with a variety of holds and power moves. Jacob, in particular suffered the brunt of this but escaped to make a hot tag to Rodney, who came charging in to clear the ring. His high energy and strong desire got them back into the match, as they began to grapple back and forth, all four men sharing the ring throughout the remainder of the match, as they swapped back and forth. But the Rogues would not let a lead slip twice, and once they secured a second stronghold on the match they sealed an impressive win with their Dirty Bomb; an elevated flip into a modified aided Kneeling Powerbomb from Kasiano. They approached the cameras thereafter, letting everybody know what lies in store for any teams that come their way.
Winners: The Rogues Gallery
BACKSTAGE
Emma Harrington was backstage with Silas Romero, who was announced at the recipient of the 'Predicted Breakout Star for 2024' Award. Romero said he was pleased to have won ahead of so many average names. He had said it from day one and respected the fact people have listened. Awards don't mean much at the end of the day, what counts is proving himself inside the ring, which he intends to do tonight. Emma asked him to discuss what happened on the flight from Boston to Toronto, a flight which coincidentally his opponent Jack McGrath was also on, and ultimately lead to an altercation between the two. Romero shrugged it off though. 'Maybe someone in the admin team got fired for that, I don't know. The people on that flight got a preview of tonight's action, I guess,' he added, before heading off to the ring.
PREDICTED BREAKOUT STAR FOR 2024
SILAS ROMERO
SINGLES MATCH
Silas Romero v Jack McGrath
These pair have really hit it off in recent weeks, from bad mouthing each other online, fighting one another when they were tag partners to even brawling on the plane to this event. But tonight they get to settle their differences, at least for the time being, inside the ring. The inception of the Brass Knuckles division will probably bring them together again at same stage down the line, but tonight they were confined to strict, standard wrestling rules, if they could manage it. There was tension in the air as they circled the ring ready to get into it. And while neither men were cheered upon entering the arena, there was nothing but love from the Toronto crowd when the match got underway, as they beat each other senseless in and around the ring. Some loose ten counts from the Referee allowed the action to overspill a little longer than usual, as they duly made use of the steel and wooden artefacts that were legal usage. After fifteen minutes of back and forth violence, their bruised fists and bloodied faces were a picture of what this meant to both competitors. Someone had to win though and McGrath somehow mustered the energy to seal it, capitalising on a weary Romero to hit his Things Fall Apart (Vertical Drop Brainbuster). Romero, predicted to go and achieve great things in 2024, will no doubt come back for more and avenge his defeat in the weeks to come, but for now McGrath leads this, hopefully, ongoing rivalry.
Winner: Jack McGrath
Molly Hatchet was backstage, pounding on the door of Frank James office. James opened and she barged past him, still irate from the beat down earlier in the night. She said she was expecting to come and see him and ask for a Television Title rematch, given she was seconds away from winning the thing. But that can wait now, there are more pressing matters to attend to. She wants the Rouges Gallery, one on one, two on one, she didn't care. She wanted to fight them and fight them soon. James smiled. He had a feeling she might say that, and while he didn't condone their actions, they had pulled off another win tonight, and were etching closer to a potential shot at the Tag Team Titles. Molly had more than earned herself another shot at glory too, though. So instead of revisiting the TV Title, for now, he was giving her a different opportunity. In the New Year, her and a partner of a her choice would face the Rogues Gallery, with the winners receiving a shot at the Tag Team Titles. Molly's demeanour changed a little, doubly pleased at this prospect. Before, contemplating who she might want on her side, as we cut back to ringside.
FATAL FOUR WAY: OPENWEIGHT TITLE NO. 1 CONTENDER
Chris Styles v Travis Levitt v Jay Sinclair v Ace Sky
Before the match Griffin Hawkins came out to a colossal cheer, before making his way to the commentary table for a close up view of his next challenger. He welcomed whoever came through, relieved that it would just be one person rather than three this time around. All four men were warmly welcomed. With so much experience in the ring it was no surprise that this match was of the highest quality throughout the majority of the action, with Levitt leading the way in the early exchanges. Sinclair was calculated, and timed his attacks to perfection, while Styles as always had the crowd on their feet - the man could not stay down, and they struggled to match his energy for most of this match up. It looked like he might have won it with an ankle lock on Ace Sky, who was all set to tap out, a split second away from tapping the mat, but Sinclair snatched it from the brink, a big boot to Style's face that was heard around the whole arena. Sky tried getting to his feet, but was given no respite before feeling the wrath of the Sinclair Sleeper (Anaconda choke). The damage to his body had already been done and it didn't take long before the bell was being rung to close this one out. Styles would no doubt feel hard done by, seconds away from a shot at glory. However, the Sin City Saint, renowned for his freestyle raps, would face the Jukebox Hero. Two cultures clashing in the New Year for Hawkins' championship. Something the fans were excited to see, as they stared one another down from across the ropes.
Winner: Jay Sinclair (New No.1 Contender to the Openweight Title)
Post-match Chris Styles was backstage with Emma Harrington. He was disappointed at the result, but was upbeat about his performance and vowed to come back stronger. Every match was an opportunity to learn and he was just proud to be a part of this great event. Journeyman Phillips came into ear shot, laughing hysterically. He said Styles comments were pathetic. The type of talk that would only come from someone who never wins anything. Styles told him to watch his mouth, he still had enough energy to go at it again if Phllips wanted it, but the veteran declined his offer. He had enough charlatans to take care of tonight already. When he's done dismantling the Salavea name, maybe he'll come back and make a mockery of the Styles clan too.
ELIMINATION TAG MATCH
Journeyman Phillips, Betty Phillips & Juno Phillips v Leati Salavea, Mateo Salavea & Tinsley Nolan
With all six wrestlers in the ring, Journeyman and Mateo decided to start the match, leaders of their 'tribes' going to war. Mateo got an early advantage but Philips reversed a suplex and tagged his daughter Juno in. She took advantage of Mateo being grounded but he soon recovered and eliminated her with the Godsend (Rebound Rolling Elbow) soon after. Phillips re-entered the ring for his team, much to the annoyance of his other daughter, as Mateo tagged in Leati. The two men went at it, back and forth, with Leati onn top for the majority of the exchanges. Betty looked on, exacerbated that she wasn't getting the tag, before eventually tagging herself in. Leati quickly switched it up and eliminated the second member of the Philips clan, but was soon eliminated himself after a cheap shot from Phillips from behind. It was 2 on 1 now, as Tinsley finally entered the ring. Fresh legged and full of energy she let out all her frustration on Journeyman, after weeks of waiting for her chance. She hit him with the Amour brisé (Pumphandle Lift dropped into a Reverse STO) and climbed the turnbuckle for her finisher, tagging in Mateo along the way, but Phillips moved out the way and she tumbled to the mat in pain. Mateo entered the ring and went for a clothesline, but Phillips ducked and sent him to the mat before locking on the Cosmopolitan Clutch. Mateo tried pulling himself to the ropes but Phillips had him right where he wanted him. Tinsley was climbing to her feet but couldn't break it up in time as Mateo tapped out, leaving it one on one. Nolan jumped on Phillips back and started attacking him, but he swung her around and whipped her into the ropes. She ducked on the return and hit him with a crossbody before locking on Rainbow Rage (Seated fujiwara armbar) for the win!
Winners: Leati Salavea, Mateo Salavea & Tinsley Nolan (via Nolan being the last person standing)
Emma Harrington was backstage to present Kore Violet with the Best Finisher Award. Kore said it was fitting that she should win yet another award, this time for her finisher, on the night she was going to use it to retain her Undisputed championship.. the one belt in Five Lakes Wrestling that no one else has held. While the other belts get tossed around like a hot potato she has kept hers. And that’s why she was Best Wrestler of the Year, Best finisher, Best Entrance Music, best EVERYTHING!

HEADLINER: NORTH AMERICAN TITLE
Tiffany Lynn Page (c) v Chelsea LeClair
This match had been coming for some time now, following weeks of verbal and physical abuse. As instructed, TLP came out alone, but didn't look any less confident or bullish that things would go her way. LeClair came out to a huge reception, herself looking quietly confident, now that the odds were stacked slightly more in her favour than was previously expected. Page though proved early on she was more than just a spoiled heiress that relied on other people to do her dirty work. A talented, and experienced wrestler she took great pleasure in proving why she had acheived so much, for so long, throughout her career. But LeClair was no rookie herself, and gave as good as she got, after a slow start. As the match wore on Page was less and less dominant, with LeClair etching closer and closer to victory. The one counts became two counts, and before long the two counts were close three counts. But Page always had a trick up her sleeve, and while Duke, Avery and Jess were banned from ringside, that didn't prevent somebody else rearing their ugly head. A young man appeared on the entrance ramp, and made his way to ringside. LeClair looked on, but tried not to let it distract her. The commentators though were quick to point out though that this was Gabe Landry, ANOTHER ally of Lynn Page and Duke Andrews. He jumped up on the ring apron and began complaining to the Referee after LeClair used an "illegal move" in his eyes. The Referee was having none of it, as the fight continued in the background. LeClair locked on the TTFO, a Figure 8 submission as Page squealed before tapping the mat in surrnder, but Gabe had the Referee by the shirt now and wasn't letting him go. LeClair released the hold and stood up, approaching the ropes with anger. She lashed out at Gabe with a right hook who feel to the outside of the ring, but it was enough to let Page back in and she didn't let things slip, hitting the All Eyes On Me (Judas Effect) on an unsuspecting LeClair, who fell to the ground face first. Page hooked the leg, exhausted, and the count was made. The crowd were seething, calling for a rematch, and vehemently abusing both Page and Landry, who entered the ring and raised his friend's arm in the air proudly, for retaining her title.
Winner: Tiffany Lynn Page (Still North American Champion)
MAIN EVENT: UNDISPUTED TITLE
Kore Violet (c) v Nessa Reckless v Khloe Bell
The final match of 2024 was finally here, as the crowd rose to their feet in anticipation. The challengers came out first, Nessa given a frosty reception as per usual, while Bell was met with a huge cheer, something she wasn't usually accustomed to but seemed to enjoy. Carrying her Television Title she rubbed the other shoulder to suggest there would soon be two. Lastly out came the champion, four months since she first won the title, a belt that no one other her has ever held. She took her time coming to the ring, holding onto the championship as long as possible to remind the women in the ring just who they were up against. Only Tiffany Lynn Page has beaten her one on one thus far in 5LW, a submission victory at that, with zero pin falls against her in singles competition. With three competitors tonight, it was difficult to imagine anyone winning by that method of victory, but with the talent each of these women possessed anything and everything was possible. Once things got underway it was clear the crowd was behind Bell, who was spurred on to an impressive early start. Kore was manipulative, and calculated as ever, while Nessa seemed to instinctively know where and when to be, and how to ensure her rivals didn't get the pin on one another. It went round and round and in circles, with Bell particularly coming close on countless occasions, as the crowd continued to will her on to victory. Kore tried taking things into her own hands by wrapping a steal chair around Nessa's head, but it quickly backfired with a dropkick and she was sent tumbling to the outside with a heavy fall. This was the beginning of the end, and her dirty tactics would ultimately be the champions' come-uppence, as Bell was slowly rising to her feet from an earlier bump. Nessa saw her coming, and seized the day, hitting her infamous finisher We All Fall Down (double knee backbreaker) to put the final nail in Bell's coffin. The vampire watched on in horror, helpless to prevent the count from where she stood as her Undisputed Championship slipped from her grasp right before her very eyes. One.. Two.. Three!
Winner: Nessa Reckless (New Undisputed Champion)
Kore held her head in her hands, as Nessa was handed belt and her music began to play. There was a sense of despair and inevitable disappointment from the former champion, but as Bell rolled out the ring her attention quickly shifted, seemingly every bit as annoyed at the woman who had gate crashed her party, as she was about losing her title. 2023 was coming to a close for Five Lakes Wrestling, with some scores potentially settled, and many open wounds left to be healed. Nessa Reckless, herself famed largely for Tag Team success, was a top tier singles champion, as she lifted the title high into the air, her music blaring, as the show came to a year end close.
