Welcome to the newest edition of Wrestler Spotlight, a one on one interview piece with the great and good of Five Lakes Wrestling by backstage interviewer, Emma Harrington. The latest wrestler to be interviewed was none other than newcomer 'Patient Zero' Jack McGrath. This conversation took place on 12th December and he had a lot to say ahead of 5LW's end of year supershow, LIVE! From Toronto. Read below for the full discussion.
WRESTLER SPOTLIGHT: JACK MCGRATH
You’re known as Patient Zero, tell us a bit about that..
I signed my first pro wrestling contract with the Las Vegas based promotion RAZOR Wrestling after my run on the New England Indy scene. At first, I had high hopes of impressing the fanbase, and proving my worth. Over my tenure, the corruption from the roster, the management, and the city proved to overwhelm my feeble mind. I realized the only way to get on top in this business was through brutality. I was the first infected with this desire of hatred, and now my mission is simple… to continue to spread this vision of hostility.
How did you get into professional wrestling..
I’ve always had a lifelong obsession with the sport, puroresu especially. But, never pursued the opportunity until the start of the pandemic in the summer of 2020. My father - who I haven’t spoken to since August - pushed me to pursue my dreams. At the age of 25 years old I kickstarted my career and haven’t looked back. The need to create as much chaos as possible in this sport truly motivates me.
What was your first professional wrestling match..
This was a special moment for me. One that I haven’t thought about in many years. It was late November 2020 in a small independent in New Hampshire, White Mountain Wrestling. I competed against my trainer and mentor Robert Divine. I was only a lamb back then, and Divine destroyed me.
What made you sign for Five Lakes Wrestling..
There are a lot of sick fucks on this roster. After RAZOR Wrestling went on hiatus, I wanted to continue to challenge myself at an extremely high level. There are going to be a lot of opportunities to prove that I’m the sickest fuck in 5LW.
Who has had the biggest impact, positive or negative, on your career..
This is a loaded question, and I’m not going to dig too deep here. Obviously my Father pushed me to join this sport, and I wouldn’t be where I am without him, but ultimately, he was holding me back. His ideals and values were for the weak.. I cut him loose from my life, and then two weeks later I was crowned a World Champion. You do the math.
What are your goals in 5LW/professional wrestling..
I want to continue this dominance. I want to strike fear into opponents, and show to the world that the only way to salvation is through pure force and aggression. I have a golden opportunity to do this here in Five Lakes Wrestling…
Who would you most like to face..
At the moment there is only one member of this roster that I want one on one, and it’s going to happen at Night 2 in Toronto. I’ve been counting down the days. I can not wait to wrap my hands around Silas Romero’s neck.
Who would you least like to face..
I fear no one. Next question.
What message do you have to the fans/roster of 5LW..
The announcement of the Brass Knuckles Championship actually warmed my heart, which was the first time in a long time. After I settle the score with Romero, my sight is set on proving that I’m the most violent fucker in this business. This is the perfect platform, and I will not settle for anything less. Fear me, and prepare for the worst.
