Welcome to the newest edition of Wrestler Spotlight, a one on one interview piece with the great and good of Five Lakes Wrestling by backstage interviewer, Emma Harrington. The latest wrestler to be interviewed was none other than 'The Dragon' Travis Levitt. The veteran opened up on his long, and successful career. Read below for the full discussion.
WRESTLER SPOTLIGHT: TRAVIS LEVITT
Full name..
Travis Levitt. Its a little basic, but I've always wrestled under my real name.
You’re known as The Dragon, and The Richmond Raider, tell us a bit about that..
Well when I first broke into wrestling, I was teaming with my best friend growing up, Reece, and we were the VA Raiders. Once Reece retired and I went solo, I started going by Richmond Raider as a reference to that. As for The Dragon? One of the tricks I had in my early career was an ability to spit Fireballs. I still do occasionally, but I also use The Dragon name as a reference to my constant inner fire, and desire to be the best.
How did you get into professional wrestling..
When I was a kid, I saw some wrestling on TV, and from the moment I saw it, I was hooked. Between the athletisicm and the skills I saw, I knew I wanted to get into the business. When I was 16, I saw an ad for a wrestling school called EWB, and me and my best friend signed up right away. I was a scrawny little teenager, but I was so determined that the trainers kept giving me chances.
What was your first professional wrestling match..
Outside of the training arena? I was part of a baroom brawl on a PRW PPV in.....2007? Hardcore championship match, and me and Pez took down the champ before I pinned him to win the belt. Then had a beer bottle broken on my head and lost the belt. Was a good experience.
What made you sign for Five Lakes Wrestling..
I heard some good things from friends of mine. I appreciate the Five Lakes respect for wrestling, and I've always wanted to make a go of it in Minnesota and the North East of America. This is where so many of the legends made their names, and it has such a rich wrestling history. I'm honored to be here.
Who has had the biggest impact, positive or negative, on your career..
Positively? Pandora Barrett. No matter what I did, Panda always had my back. From WWH to SCW and XHW, her and I are destined to be great friends. She's coming back to the business slowly, and I look forward to helping her like she has me. Negatively? My own demons. I allowed them to take me down some dark holes in the past. I'm a better man then I was, but there's always that temptation in the back of my mind.
What are your goals in 5LW/professional wrestling..
To show people what wrestling should be. Too many people these days are happy to take the low road, or cheap shots, or just big brash talkers. I respect my opponents, and I respect the ring. If I can get my hands on some gold, that would be great too.
Who would you most like to face..
Griffin Hawkins. We've had some beefs in the past, and I'd love to tear it up with him again.
Who would you least like to face..
Arley Kirk. I dont ever want to pis off the Coyote. I've seen how bad she can get. This may change within the coming months as I get to know people though.
What message do you have to the fans/roster of 5LW..
Just to watch this space. I'm finding my feet in 5LW, but I'm enjoying it here so far. I know it takes a lot to make an impact in a new place, but if the fans want to see the best matches, put a mark next to any match The Dragon is in. And if any of the people in the back are thinking of taking some cheap wins or dirty tactics? Be warned. If The Dragon catches you.....there's going to be some flames.
