5 Nights in the 5 Boroughs
LIVE! From Staten Island
Monday 8th January
The night kicked off with a recap of the highlights from LIVE! From Toronto, the 2-night end of year supershow that preceded tonight's event, ending with Nessa Reckless raising her Undisputed Title in the air, as Kore Violet watched on in disbelief. There was hype around tonight's match ups thereafter, including a few online quotes from the featured wrestlers..
@thetoughestout: I refuse to dwell on falling short, I will simply take the next step as I always do and fuck up whoever lines up across from me next!
@mwnitemare: Gettin’ ready to take that @5lakeswrestling Brass Knuckles title. Trainin’ hard and throwin’ fists.
INSIDE THE RING
Frank James came out to greet the New York fan base and was warmly welcomed in doing so. In his hand was two brief cases, and he placed them down in the centre of the ring. He promised an excellent two week tour of the five boroughs, culminating in some huge Title matches. He hyped these matches some more before opening the first brief case to reveal the brand new Brass Knuckles Championship, a dashing silver and bronze plate with a templated set of brass knuckles etched into the centre of it. This excited the fans, who would see the first two bouts of the tournament later in the night. He opened up the other briefcase and pulled out the Television Title, much to everyone's surprise. He paused for a moment, allowing the fans and commentators to discuss why this might be. As everyone knows tonight they would be kicking things off with the first of five Television Title matches across the tour - with Khloe Bell, the champion, taking on Andrew Raynes, the challenger. However, this match would no longer be taking place. In fact, for reasons he cannot disclose, Khloe Bell had wrestled her last match for Five Lakes Wrestling. Again, he paused. This was a huge surprise to everyone. The show must go on though and Sally Lambert would take her place, in a one on one match for the now vacant belt. We were kicking things off in New York by crowning a new champion! Best of luck to both competitors, he added, before exiting the ring.
TELEVISION TITLE MATCH
Sally Lambert v Andrew Raynes
Lambert, a surprise entrant here, came out to a huge pop. Raynes too was given a big ovation, as the vacant strap was paraded around the ring. A nod of respect from both competitors beforehand as they let rip with some intense brawling.
Raynes was a dominant force throughout, but had to be on his a-game, as Lambert kept coming back for more, relentless in her pursuit of a first 5LW championship. A Lou Thesz Press from nowhere got the crowd pumped, but she failed to capitalise as Raynes hit the Code of the Sith (Running Single Leg High Knee) to put her on the ground. He latched on his infamous Caught in the Rayne (Tazzmission) as Lambert cried out in pain. She fought on valiantly until the Referee stepped in and called it off, with Lambert effectively unable to tap herself out.
Raynes rose to his feet, chest out, and was handed the belt, which he proudly threw into the air.

BRASS KNUCKLES TITLE TOURNAMENT
MATCH ONE - ROUND ONE
Ryan Samuels v TATER
Samuels has made no secret of his desire to be inaugural Brass Knuckles Champion, even before he was announced to compete. TATER was his first test though as these two roughneck brawlers set the pace in this opening tournament encounter.
TATER made use of the things around him, putting Samuels through a table at one point. Samuels, as always, had his trusty bull rope, and took the wind out of his opponent with a long chokehold and some vicious whips to the chest.
TATER was hoping for another big move through a table but Samuels countered and saw this out with his Give Them Jessy (Reverse-spin scoop powerslam) to advance.
Winner: Ryan Samuels (Advances to Semi-Finals)
BRASS KNUCKLES TITLE TOURNAMENT
MATCH TWO - ROUND ONE
Leati Salavea v Jack McGrath
Leati Salavea has challenged for titles before now, but still chases his first gold. The One Hitta Quitta isn’t necessarily renowned for hardcore wrestling, but should thrive under these relaxed rules. The barbaric McGrath meanwhile, a former World Champion, will no doubt fancy himself under these stipulations.
Early on it was obvious McGrath had done his homework and worked away on Leati’s knee. He reached for his sickle on several occasions, to the horror of many in attendance at what he might do with it, but Leati managed to fend him off each time. Several weapons were used though as they reduced one another to their knees with chair shots throughout the contest.
McGrath was the last one standing though following a Cradle Piledriver on the outside of the ring and the subsequent three count that a dazed Salavea couldn’t recover from.
Winner: Jack McGrath (Advances to Semi-Finals)
MAIN EVENT
SINGLES SHOWCASE
Kore Violet v Silas Romero
It was strange to see Violet without the Undisputed Title over her shoulder, an image we had become so accustomed to in recent months, but she carried herself with the same confidence and swagger as she did before now. Up to this point nobody has pinned Violet in singles competition, a record she would no doubt want to maintain as she seeks to reclaim her title.
Romero was tipped by the fans to make a huge splash in 2024, but was coming off the back of a disappointing defeat himself. But with Jewel accompanying him to the ring, he looked poised and ready to make a name for himself against the former champion.
Romero’s striking abilities came to the fore right from the bell. Kore held her own at first, a solid all round performer, but as the match wore on he began to dominate. Violet was calculated though, and landed a clean uppercut after pretending to be injured.
She was in control was then on, playing Romero at his own game, and wearing him down on a gradual basis. Just as she thought she'd done enough she went in for the kill, and lined up a Russian Leg Sweep, but Romero reversed into The Beltsville Crucible (High Olympic Slam)! Kore was fresh enough to regain her feet fairly quickly, but Romero was up first and hit a GKFO (Ripcord Rolling Elbow) to send her crashing back to the mat, as this time she stayed down and he hooked the leg for the one, two, three.
A huge statement by the Scarlet Striker, against the former Undisputed Champion. As his music played he climbed aloft the turnbuckle and let everyone know he what it meant not only for him, but for anyone that comes his way in 2024.
