Frank James held a press conference today in London, Ontario following the return of Five Lakes Wrestling in Ottawa this week. Naturally he was thrilled to have it back on the air and talked a bit about what’s on the horizon in the coming weeks and months.
The first announcement was around the roster itself and he was pleased to announce the signing of another tag team. Luna Skye and Saffron Schade needed no introduction to the wrestling world, and were going to be an excellent addition to the division. Look out for their debut against a couple of local talents in London next week. He did stress, however, this was likely to be the last addition to the locker room for a while now. No less than 21 new faces have been brought in since the company’s hiatus, and it was time to focus on who we have, rather than who we don’t have. Over the next few weeks these new additions would be largely facing off against one another, and he looked forward to seeing which ones can steal a march on the others. Five Lakes Wrestling is not short of championships, so expect some opportunities to open up very soon for those individuals.
Next up was the Brass Knuckles Championship. He was excited to announce that from now until the end of the year it was going to be defended each and every week. Speaking with fans before and after the show they kept asking him for the same thing over and over - more violence! People want to see the likes of Jack McGrath, Andrew Garrison, Kimberley Williams and the Rogues Gallery battling it out in the most brutal circumstances far more often. Amongst others, of course. That might mean people like Jack McGrath fighting twice in one night, if they hold more than one belt, but success comes at a price, and I don’t think they - particularly McGrath - will mind.
Lastly, he had news on the Undisputed Championship. Vanessa Reckless is a great champion. By the time she next defends her belt it will be over 9 months since she dethroned Kore Violet. Who knows how long this reign will go on for, but there are many people worthy of putting her to the test and it’s time we found out who they were. Over the next few weeks there will be a series of matches to determine not one, but THREE challengers to the title. Following which they’ll all compete, with Vanessa, in a round of elimination matches at our next Supershow, in Thunder Bay. The first of these bouts will be in 2 weeks time, at LIVE! From St Catharines, between Marisol Vilaro, Zara Walker, Tiffany Lynn Page and Gwen Margolis.
Good luck to all those involved.
With that he thanked the small gathering of journalists and media-persons, and left the room.
