LIVE! From Dayton
Sunday 3rd September
Kore Violet came out to start the show, the Undisputed Championship in hand. Confidently making her way to the ring she held the title aloft as the crowd booed and jeered. Her trademark bite goading many in attendance. She then took the mic and criticised them for not celebrating her accomplishment. She said she stood before them as not only the best wrestler in this company, but the smartest too, which she proved last week by using the rules to her advantage. Reigning Openweight Champion Jay Sinclair then came out onto the ramp to a loud pop. Sinclair said it was a disgrace that Violet would insult the fans and the Title by pretending she was anything other than a cheat and a fraud. Last week she denied him an opportunity in the lowest possible way, and he looked forward to the day he could right that wrong. Kore told him to stop crying. People like Arley Kirk and Tiffany Lynn Page came close to holding her belt, but they aren’t out here moaning like little bitches. Kore added that if Sinclair wanted her take his Openweight Title and add it to her own she would be more than happy. Sinclair welcomed the idea of a rematch any time, promising a different outcome next time around.
Tag Team Match
Callie Renton & Tiffany Lynn Page v La Fracasada
You would think the experience of Carter and Smith and the years they have spent in the ring together would be too much for the strange bedfellows in Page and Renton, but no. The latter were a surprisingly good combination, taking the match and their opponents very seriously. Lynn Page sealed this nicely with a devestating Brainbuster on Avery Smith before a neat tag to Renton, who finished it off with a Top Rope Corkscrew Stunner (The Heiress). Page fended off Carter as the pin was made.
Winners: Callie Renton & Tiffany Lynn Page
Backstage Callie Renton was being interviewed by Emma Harrington about her debut win. Renton was delighted to get off to winning ways, and by pinning Smith she was putting the rest of the roster notice. She promised to amount to big things here in 5LW, and this win showcased that. Tiffany Lynn Page then came around the corner, overhearing her words. She wasn’t happy that Renton was taking all the plaudits when it was her that had done all the work and secured the win. A heated debate then began as they argued over who 'really' won the match before Harrington separated the two, suggesting they settle it in the ring sometime. They both agreed before going their separate ways.
Openweight Title Match
Jay Sinclair (c) v Iida Matsuda v Lauryn Lawson
Sinclair was naturally eager to prove himself in his maiden Title defence. With the Openweight Title set be defended at every event though it’s going to be a tall order for any wrestler to retain it long term. Lawson, who last week competed in the Undisputed Title Main Event, gave a good showing herself, targeting Matsuda as the perceived weak link here. With an uneven number though that wasn’t always possible and Matsuda more than held her own right up to the end, as Sinclair, who took advantage of a lapse in her concentration to hit the Jaypocalypse (Electric Chair Powerbomb)
Winner: Jay Sinclair (Still Openweight Champion)
The Reckless Dollz came out before their match dressed all in black, with veils covering their faces. Four men followed behind carrying a coffin, laying it down inside the ring. The Dollz stood solemnly, feigning tears before addressing the crowd. Rowen said it is with great sadness that everyone must mourn the death of the Five Lakes Wrestling Tag Division. Last week's result was a shock to everyone involved, and it's untimely death, as a consequence, will be a loss to us all. It was then that the Salavea Twins came out onto the entrance ramp, to a loud cheer. They didn't take kindly to the Dollz joke, who by this point couldn't keep a straight face. Edging slowly down the entrance ramp Jacob said they had half a mind to put them in that coffin, but they had been talking backstage and had a better idea. Since they had already beaten the other 2 recognised teams in 5LW, including the Dollz, they were seeking a fresh challenge. If any other teams outside of the company wanted to come down and face them next week, bring it on. And if successful, they would get a shot at the belts. The Dollz didn't seem to like the idea of someone else 'stealing their shot' but before they could retaliate "Bones Exposed" by Of Mice & Men hit the speakers. The crowd seemed to instantly recognise that sound as the crowd jumped to the feet. Jessi Ozborne and Otto Nova, the Nova Empire, stepped out to the top of the ramp to everyone's surprise. Jessi said they'd been backstage discussing a potential contract here when they heard all this commotion. It would have been rude for them NOT to come out and join the conversation. Otto said the Tag Team division here was very much alive, because they were here to bring it to life. If the Salavea's were looking for a challenge, they just found one. Jacob and Rodney nodded in approval, with the Dollz frustrated that they their thunder had been stolen.
Tag Team Match
Arley Kirk & Leati Salavea v Reckless Dollz
Coffin now removed, there was a brief acknowledgement of respect between Salavea and Kirk who had been wary about this teaming, but they gelled considerably well. Both seemed privy to the tactics the Reckless Dollz would no doubt deploy, using every trick in the book to try and pull off this win. They were keen to make an example of Leati, with his brother's looking on from ringside, but Kirk was there for her partner when required. Kirk had the match won for her team at one point, but Nessa managed to pull Rowen's leg onto the rope after the three count. After a successful protest the match continued, and she took full advantage of the distraction to attack from behind. Leati tried to intervene but the Ref was having none of it, allowing Rowen enough recovery time to double team Kirk. She tried to fight them off but succumbed to a double Russian Legweep but Nessa put things to bed thereafter.
Winners: Reckless Dollz
Backstage Khalon Norwood and Kore Violet came face to face walking through the corridors. There was a brief awkward silence as they sized one another up. Violet slung her belt up over her shoulder, and told him she didn’t win this by fluke. She goes into every match with a winning mentality, and expected him to do the same. Norwood said she didn’t have to worry. He would do what was needed to ensure they came through.
Main Event
Tag Team Match
Khalon Norwood & Kore Violet v AJ Rivera & Khloe Bell
Rivera let Bell start the match who was keen to go toe to toe with the Undisputed Champion. The two were a perfect match for one another, tearing it up in the ring. The crowd were on their feet for the two champions coming face to face. It was a good spectacle, both women showing exactly why they were in possession of the two biggest single titles in 5LW. Bell, wary that fresh legs would be the key to victory tagged in Rivera as Violet leaned over to do the same. The two men then rushed to the centre, with Rivera getting the better of the opening exchanges. Violet watched on with disdain but Norwood worked his way back in to the match as the match wore on, as it began to swing back and forth between the two teams. A worthy main event, neither side looked likely to break for some time, until a surprise twist from nowhere. Rivera attempted a Backdrop Driver on Violet, but she wriggled out and stumbled backwards. A sly tag to Norwood wasn't seen, and they took full advantage, as he entered the ring to land an unsuspecting Reverse Shining Wizard. Violet made sure Bell couldn't break up the pin as the count was made. Norwood celebrated a 'revenge victory' following last week's defeat, as Kore rolled out the ring, picked up her belt and exited, barely acknowledging her partner. She stood briefly at the top of the ramp, back to the crowd and raised her belt in the air, while Rivera climbed to his feet in the ring, shaking his head in disappointment, as the night came to a close.
