LIVE! FROM COLUMBUS: PICK YOUR POISON
Sunday 15th October
The night kicked off with a cold open as for once in a long time we find Khloe Bell backstage by herself. The woman is pacing in a corridor, her North American championship held over a shoulder as she walks to and fro. When she finally stops to address the camera, Khloe says after last week’s match losing to Arley Kirk again, this time with Griffin Hawkins in tow, she’s been in a perpetually bad mood. For the last week she’s had to do some soul searching and deal with that herself, but tonight it's going to be ALL of Five Lakes Wrestling’s problem.
Alejandro Rivera pops in and throws his arm around Khloe’s waist, snatching the young woman up and to his side. He wastes no time turning and pointing to the camera without introduction. AJ says what happened last time was all business but rest assured if he meets either Griff or Arley in the ring again he’ll be getting even. Besides that it is abundantly clear that 5 Lakes is only getting bigger and better, and how could it not when you've got championship material like himself and Khloe here. But rest assured the pillars of this place are unshakable to anyone who wants to try.
The couple give each other a pleased and feral look, and AJ pushes the camera aside.
The camera's cut to ringside to see Frank James already stood in the ring. He said he had no idea how tonight was going to play out. It was anyone’s guess who would choose who, but he hoped it would be a fitting end to their tour of Ohio. However, before things got underway he had some announcements to make. Next week the bus rolls into Minnesota and they were going to start things off with a bang, as he announced the following matches.. Jay Sinclair v Kore Violet for the Undisputed Title. The House of Wolves v the Salavea Twins for the Tag Team Titles. And AJ Rivera v Griffin Hawkins for the Openweight Title. He then revealed via the big screen that all the wrestlers were stood waiting in the backstage area to see who would be called for each match tonight as things got underway.
Callie Renton v ?
Callie Renton was first up and decided she wanted to avenge her elimination in the Television Title match to Legion the other week. With this the only blemish on her current record it seemed the right thing to do, against a highly decorated wrestler nonetheless. Legion came out accompanied by the rest of the House as always, but Cassie soon found an ally in Chelsea LeClair, who came to ringside ‘just in case’. It looked like Renton had bitten off more than she could chew in the early exchanges, the experienced Legion making life difficult, but with the crowd behind her Renton got more and more into the match. After a leaping spin kick she calls Broken Mold, she ascended the turnbuckle to finish things off but was pushed off when the Referee wasn’t looking by one of Legion's followers. LeClair protested on her behalf but it was no use, as Legion recovered in time to seize the moment and secured the win with her Storytime (Double Fujiwara Armbar). The House then tried to enter the ring to send a message but Leclair jumped to prevent any attack.
Winner: Legion
Television Title Match
Tiffany Lynn Page v ?
TLP gave a long winded speech about testing herself against the best, and offering a title opportunity to someone who had proved themselves a champion in their own right. She really built up her opponent and upcoming match before revealing it to be Jess Carter! The crowd were furious as Carter made her way to the ring and immediately fell to the floor after a “slap” from Page. Page knelt down and pinned her “opponent” as the crowd continued to hurl abuse. Page didn’t care though and raised her title aloft with pride, job done, before heading to the back.
Winner: Tiffany Lynn Page (still Television champion)
Andrew Raynes v ?
Raynes said he had thought long and hard about who to face tonight. Should he embarrass one of the champions? Or should he annihilate one of the so called “legends” of the game like Patti Rose or Journeyman Phillips? He had a better idea though and called out Jay Sinclair to the entrance ramp. Raynes then challenged him to a match for his status as number one contender to the Undisputed Championship. Sinclair said he would never back down from anyone and made his way to the ring as the match got underway. It was a good even contest throughout with neither man breaking, until Raynes found himself in the fortunate position of making a pinfall and getting his feet up firmly on the ropes for extra leverage! The Referee never spotted it, and he just about held down Sinclair long enough to steal the victory, and a shot at the Undisputed Championship!
Winner: Andrew Raynes (new Number One Contender to the Undisputed Title)
Chelsea LeClair v ?
LeClair said she already made up her mind who to face tonight but things had just got a little more interesting. She called back out Andrew Raynes and said she had a score to settle after he attacked her from behind in the Television Title match. Raynes initially refused, citing ‘health and safety protocols’ having just wrestled, but Frank James stepped in. If selected, you must wrestle. LeClair then challenged him for his status as number one contender to the Undisputed Title, but Raynes said there was no way he could be expected to fairly defend it. James stepped in again though - he had a better idea, if LeClair wins the opportunity would be shared, meaning they both get a shot at the title. LeClair liked that but Raynes was less enthused. When the match finally got underway Raynes was quick out the blocks, trying to wrap things up as early as possible but LeClair was in it for the long haul, and took her time to grind him down, knowing she would have more in the tank as time wore on. Her plan paid off as she locked on her a Figure 8 in the centre of the ring that in the end Raynes couldn’t fight back from.
Winner: Chelsea LeClair (new/also Number One Contender for the Undisputed Title)
the NOVA Empire v ?
The NOVA Empire had one thing on their minds, becoming the Five Lakes Wrestling Tag Team champions. Therefore they were calling out the Salavea Twins in a non-title match to prove they were ready. Rodney and Jacob came out and offered their respect to Jessi and Otto beforehand. A thrilling contest ensued, and with Nova on top a huge upset was potentially on the cards. That was until the House of Wolves snuck through the crowd and jumped into the ring, attacking the Salaveas from behind. It was evident they wanted to inflict as much damage as possible on the champions ahead of their match next week but Otto and Jessi weren’t having it and fought them off, furious their match had been interrupted. Frank James had seen enough and stepped into the ring. He wanted his title matches to be a showcase, and trying to hurt wrestlers beforehand was always going to put that at risk. He wanted to ensure next weeks match went off without any interference, and decided there needed to be some ‘reinforcements’ to balance things out. The NOVA Empire would be added to the title match.
Winners: No contest
Griffin Hawkins v ?
Hawkins said he was going to face someone he had unfinished business with. And that was Khalon Norwood. This time, there was no way to escape him. Or was it? Norwood was stood backstage, but not dressed to wrestle. He said he only fought for titles now and refused to come to the ring. The officials told him he must come to the ring or face sanctions but he didn’t care, and exited the building. Hawkins said there was no way he was leaving without wrestling tonight, so made another suggestion. Why wait until next week? Why should Minnesota get all the action? Let’s do this now, Rivera. An hors d’oeuvre to next weeks Openweight Tifle match. Rivera came bounding out, satisfied that someone had finally selected him as they came face to face in the centre of the ring, trading insults in one another’s faces. Rivera held his belt up and told Hawkins he would never get his hands on it so long as he was champ. Hawkins tried to grab it knowing full well it would antagonise him as a full scale brawl kicked off inside the ring. It was a heated, fiery display that got the crowd going. Rivera looked powerful and dominant for long periods. When on top he puffed his chest out and was bullish to the jeering crowd but it was Hawkins that had the last laugh, and sent a huge message ahead of their match next week with a Seventh Star (Cross Rhodes) to get the win.
Winner: Griffin Hawkins
Ryan Samuels v Kanaka Mauna
Samuels picked up the mic but before he could even speak Kanaka Mauna’s music hit the and this long awaited match was well and truly on. A long time had passed since these two behemoths formally met in the ring and it didn’t disappoint. Samuels’ trademark Lariat was needed three times before he finally put the big man down on the canvas but it wasn’t enough, as Mauna recovered to Chokeslam him. But Samuels too was fuelled with adrenaline for this one and he also kicked out. Both back on their feet The Midwest Nightmare actually finished things with a Give Them Jessy (Reverse-spin scoop powerslam). He powered up the ramp but he wasn’t satisfied, instead coming back to pick up a mic. Mauna was rising to his feet now as Samuels stood on top of the entrance ramp. ‘Mauna.. I thought after everything we’ve been through that finally beating your fat ass would be enough. But hot damn I need more! So how about this.. let’s do this all over again but this time, when I beat your lazy ass again, you will leave this company and professional wrestling FOR GOOD!’ Mauna called for a mic himself to respond. ‘I accept, Samuels, on one condition. If I win, then it’s YOU that has to retire. This sport ain’t big enough for the both of us, pal.’ The crowd cheered, as Samuels thought it over. ‘HOT DAMN YOU’RE ON!’
Winner: Ryan Samuels
Nessa Reckless v ?
Nessa said she has just about accomplished everything you can in tag team wrestling with her partner, Rowen. Taking the Tag Titles here would not do any more to satiate their appetite or elevate their status. Instead she was going to conquer the singles competition in this company, and what better way to fast track that than by beating the Undisputed Champion, Kore Violet. Kore came out with a mic and said she had wondered when someone was going to call her out. It didn’t surprise her that Nessa was trying to achieve something without actually working for it, getting closer to the ring she continued to talk. ‘While Nessa’s ambition was somewhat.. admirable, one mustn’t bite off more than you can chew..’ Kore then proceeedeed to plant the Undisputed Title in her face as the bell rang. It was enough to see this one out, as Kore beat her down while on top and sealed the win with a Tilt-a-whirl Dragon Sleeper.
Winner: Kore Violet
Winner: Kore Violet
Leati Salavea & Mateo Salavea v ?
Leati rubbed his hands together before declaring his opponent. Before doing so though he called Mateo Salavea down to the ring to join him before announcing they would be facing the House of Wolves. Out came Kassandra and Danae, eager to send a message ahead of next week and their Tag Team Title match with Jacob and Rodney. Leati and Mateo were not here to mess around though, and more than matched their opponents in this matchup. Danae, the smaller of the two, found herself under the cosh, until an opportunity opened up to tag in Kassandra. She landed a quick cheap shot on Leati, then took her time exiting the ring before dropkicking Mateo off the outside. It was two on one now and the Referee demanded she leave the ring, but she wasn't having it, and the damage was soon done as they sealed things with a Double Suplex.
Winners: The House of Wolves
Kore Violet v ?
Kore came back out, title in hand and teased the crowd a little over who she should face. She then pointed to the big screen, where the roster waited with baited breath. 'Tonight, she said.. there will be an Undisputed Title match.' The anticipation grew higher. Kore said she would offer a title match to.... the first person who makes a successful pinfall on another wrestler, starting NOW! All hell broke loose immediately as the officials ran into the fray trying to find a winner. Frank James smirked. Surprised, yet not surprised. He didn’t expect anything less from his reigning Undisputed Champion as attention turned to the backstage area where everyone was trying to secure that first pin. Various attempts were made but nothing was secured for the first five minutes until a violent chair shot appeared to the back of Avery Smith. It was unclear who by at first, until she tumbled forwards towards the camera revealing Nessa Reckless behind her. Nessa quickly made the pin as the Referee raised her hand. She pointed down the camera lens to say she was coming for that belt as her music hit and she headed to the ring. Clearly still not fully recovered from the match earlier in the night, she made her way out and launched herself at Kore, but struggled to keep up with the savvy, and fresher champion. It looked like a certain second defeat but somehow she pulled off the unlikeliest of comebacks with a Leg Sweep DDT to reverse. Kore was stunned and not the least bit prepared for the next move as Nessa rolled her up backwards with a fist full of tights. She threw all her weight on the champ but Kore kicked out just in time. Kore was on the back foot now as things continued, but managed to wrestle herself away and rolled out of the ring to recover. The Referee started to count and she toyed with getting back in, but with seconds to spare decided against it, picked up her title and walked up the rampway, much to everyone's annoyance.
Winner: Nessa Reckless (by countout)
Arley Kirk v ?
Arley paced around the ring, keeping the fans on their toes. She was enjoying the suspense, and visibly excited for her match. She hyped the crowd a little longer. They were right behind her and she was giving them their moneys worth, before dropping the name out of nowhere. KHLOE BELL! ONE ON ONE! This was the match everybody wanted. Arley wanted it. Khloe wanted it. Most importantly, the crowd wanted it. Khloe needed to avenge her loss. Arley needed to get closer to the title. Khloe came out, alone. The crowd were a bit more modest for her entrance than usual, presumably hyped by the prospect, as they circled one another in the ring before things got underway. It was respectful but high energy and at times chaotic. Neither could get a stronghold for very long, roles constantly reversing. Eventually Kirk came to prominence, and the crowd were on their feet at the prospect of a big victory, but Bell wasn't done. She looked dead and buried, a sweaty mess with nothing left in the tank. Kirk was looking to finish with the RipLash (Berkocet) but couldn't get it off. They twist an turned inside the ring, practically dancing round in circles until Kirk had seen enough and went for a closeline, but Bell ducked, kicked her in the midriff... HELLS BELLS! The Cradle Piledriver echoed around the arena as the Ref made the count. Bell rolled over and into the corner of the ring to recover for what seemed like an eternity. The Referee helped her to her feet and handed her belt. It wasn't on the line but she raised it anyway, proof of what it takes to be a champion and a reminder to everyone what it takes to keep her down. Her music playing, she exited up the ramp looking back at Kirk, who was rising to her feet. They each nodded, knowing full well this was not the last time they would share a Five Lakes Wrestling ring.
Winner: Khloe Bell
